Claudine & Honza LaFond
Claudine and Honza Lafond are the founders of YogaBeyond. They met six years ago in New York, though they had fallen in love even before they had physically met. Their love for movement, creativity and each other has lead them to the unique practice of AcroYoga. Their collective experiences and combined career paths in yoga, health and fitness have brought them together in a powerful way... et voila, YogaBeyond was born. Honza and Claudine's message of inspiration through playful practice has taken them to many corners of the world, as they continue to embrace all the exciting opportunities that come their way. Honza is an accomplished artist, visionary, entrepreneur, designer, trader but above all, a teacher of all things movement, wellness and spirituality. He is known for his inspirational style of teaching that incorporates both spiritual wisdom and strong physical practice.
Honza's approach to teaching caters to people from all walks of life and levels of yoga experience. His background in Hatha, Ashtanga, Bikram and AcroYoga, as well as life coaching and fitness training creates a highly transformative and healing environment. He teaches and inspires with raw yet playful and compassionate honesty to help bring your practice off the mat and into daily life.
Honza has been an adventurer and a spiritual truth seeker throughout his entire life. Over the last 15 years his journey has taken him from humble beginnings in the Czech Republic where he grew up, right across the globe to many metropolitan cities as well as remote places with serene natural beauty. His latest endeavour took him to the base camp of Mount Everest. It was here in the high altitudes of the Himalayas in Nepal, where he completed his Ashtanga Vinyasa & Hatha Yoga teacher training.
Honza likes to be on his hands, upside down or on his back balancing a flyer on his feet. Expect inversions and arm balances in his classes, workshops and retreats! In Honza's own words, "The challenge that inversions and arm balances offer builds confidence and strength, but more than anything it excites the ever present playful child within all of us. The playful nature of yoga and AcroYoga is just as important as its disciplined aspect. It is the balance between the two that makes yoga practice a life long passion for so many people around the world and beyond. My mission is to inspire others to stay present, playful and to reach for greatness!"
Claudine is a compassionate and inspiring yoga teacher from New York based in Sydney. From a young age, she has been drawn to movement and self expression. Starting with ballet, gymnastics, then baseball and jujitsu, followed by dance and theatre performance she has enjoyed moving, breathing and being active for as long as she can remember. She believes that humor is an essential ingredient in yoga and that laughter is the best core exercise there is.
Claudine found the nourishing practice of yoga over 15 years ago in New York City and quickly discovered it to be the missing link to physical strength, power and grace as well as clarity of mind, health and healing. Since then, she has passionately sought every opportunity possible to practice and learn from teachers around the world within various lineages. These include Kripalu, Anusara, Iyengar, Hatha, Vinyasa and AcroYoga. She is also a Certified Fitness Trainer, Pilates Mat Instructor, Holistic Health Counselor, Thai Massage & Cranio-sacral therapist and a Lululemon Ambassador.
Claudine’s extensive studies under Dada Vivekajii, Naresh Ron King, Anna Forrest, Jason Nemer, Jenny Sauer-Klein and too many other great teachers to name have helped forge an intuitive, spontaneous and eclectic instruction style. She attributes her zest for life, courageous spirit, and open heart, to her awe-inspiring mentor Sherri Brown.
Claudine celebrates and delights in the unique light and beauty within everyone’s being, and her classes reflect this celebration of the Self in the service of Love. Her classes open and inspire the mind, body, heart, and spirit, providing a space for us to physically open, heal, restore, connect, expand, play, and awaken to our own inner peace, freedom, and empowerment. Her intention is to create an environment where students can experience the infinite possibilities within themselves, to move freely without pain, to feel good no matter what may come their way, and to simply have fun! As she likes to say, "in every breath, there is opportunity for transformation". Claudine's humble guidance points her students towards the wisdom and strength they already possess.
